So, meet Ross Tomlinson, our Senior Concrete Technician at DB Group.
Tell us about your role at DB Group
My role as a Senior Concrete Technician involves working with the technology team to cover a range of different testing. This includes Cemfree binder QC, PUDLO water penetration testing and other modifications to enhance the future development of Cemfree. As part of technology we also support commercial projects, from lab trials to plant and site trials.

What does a typical day look like for you?
A typical day would normally involve either making concrete mixes or demoulding/ data entry. Occasionally I will get involved with meetings, supporting commercial, and throwing ideas around the office with a coffee and some biscuits.
What do you enjoy about working at DB Group? Or what do you enjoy about your role?
I enjoy the friendly atmosphere and the challenge of always trying to improve the product, as well as the satisfaction when things go well. We are quite sarcastic in the technology team and I do enjoy the banter within the team.
How has DB Group supported you in your career?
DB Group has been very supportive and given me the opportunity to move from the operations team to the Technology team over in 2019, giving me the opportunity to gain knowledge of concrete and lab experience.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
I like the occasional pint as well as playing bowls with my teammates at St Neots, followed by a drink at the bar afterwards! I enjoy spending time with my family and chilling out on the sofa whilst watching a film/series. And can’t beat a nice cuppa and 6 packs of chocolate hobnobs.
