Ground Floor Damp-Proof Membranes
Regulations call for any ground floor surface to resist ground moisture and surface condensation. This can be achieved using a damp-proof membrane, a layer of polyethylene laid under the ground floor slab.
The ground membrane prevents concrete from absorbing water via capillary action when laid beneath your slab. However, it can also be feasible and beneficial to lay the membrane above the concrete, depending on the context of the build.
