Ground-bearing raft slabs

Reinforced concrete slabs are used to form the basis for raft foundations (also known as raft footings or mat foundations). This type of shallow foundation can be used when constructing buildings with a low structural load and will usually cover the entire footprint of the building.

Generally requiring less excavation work than alternative foundations, and with the combining of the foundation with the ground slab, raft foundations can allow for fast and cost-effective construction.
They also demand expert concrete waterproofing expertise.
